Confucius once said “Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it”. What are the attributes of beauty? Is it Symmetry? Harmony? Proportion? Oneness with universe? It is becoming increasingly clear that beauty is not just about individual tastes. There might exist universal rules of beauty. There is something common in beauty which we may quantify someday. Is there a mathematical formula for beauty? How does this formula translate into neural activity leading to perception of beauty? The game has just begun. A lot needs to be explored. The more you explore the more mysterious it gets. The conflict which sets in- Do we desire something because it’s beautiful or is it beautiful because we desire it?
